Social change is coming

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Dear friends, fans and stalkers

Due to the ridiculous amounts of respect and love I have for you I would like to inform you of a few social changes that will be happening with regards to me, Marc Williams, and Srizzil. No, you don’t need to grab any tissues; this is going to be relatively painless.

Because most of the things I do and say and share with you happen on Srizzil, I believe it is time to fully switch over to making Srizzil 100% ‘Marcified’. If you have any sense at all you will have noticed Srizzil has become a lot more personalized, I’ve even plastered my face on every main page background. To complete the ‘Marcification’ I will be removing my twitter connection to my personal Facebook profile and linking it up to the Srizzil fan page.

What does this mean for me?

Well if you don’t like me, nothing. But then why are you reading this? (If you’re my friend on Facebook and feel this way, please remove me you freaky stalker.)

For friends
However if you’re my friend and you do like to hear what I have to say, watch my latest videos, read my blog posts, check out my photography, and listen to my music, then I suggest you ensure you can see all posts from Srizzil. (Basically if for some ridiculous reason you have hidden Srizzil updates – unhide them!)

For fans
It also means that if you’ve liked Srizzil without a second thought, you will suddenly be receiving a lot more from Srizzil in your Facebook feed than before. In which case you can take this opportunity to fall in love with me in a completely friendly non freaky stalker kind of way OR click the evil unlike button and disappear into oblivion. If you choose to do something so utterly horrifying, I can’t be responsible for the horrible repercussions that will come upon you, but I wish you the best of luck.

Why are you doing this?

I’m doing this simply because Srizzil represents me. I want to connect with those that like what I do and would like to see what my future holds. I would like to share the thoughts that my amazing twitter followers hear with those that only have Facebook. If I just accepted every friend request I would be limited to a meager 5000 people. But my goals are set much higher than that.

What essentially sparked this thinking is the fact that many people are fans of Srizzil but have no idea what it is. That’s sick and wrong. So we’re going to spend some time getting to know each other a little better.

If you’ve read this far I commend you for being a true friend, fan or stalker and I love you more than chasing flocks of birds through the park. Now that’s love.

The walk by test

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

It seems the world has stepped into a new era. Thanks to Facebook, we no longer have any idea who our friends really are. People we socialize with are mostly obvious friends but when it comes to school, work and friend’s friends things get hazy.

Now for some people, the ones who are in a weird competition for mass fake friendship, they like the idea of inviting everybody to be their friend. For other normal people, we need a test, some kind of guideline to help us decide who our friends really are. I have the solution.

I call it, “The walk by test.” It’s pretty self explanatory, but for those of you who have slow synapse releases here’s an explanation. If you had to walk by the person who sent you a desperate friend request in a random street, would you recognize them? More importantly, would you stop to talk to them, or at least say hi? If the answer is yes, you’re one step closer to confirming your friendship. If no, IGNORE or DELETE the filthy stalker.

Just another bit of advice to make your life better, you’re welcome.

2010 Reflections

Monday, December 27th, 2010

2010. The hideous beast of a rollercoaster has past, but it has left its mark. Growing as a person seems to have become compulsory somewhere along the line, and this year is no exception. People say you grow through hard times, they’re right. You do. You are forced to. I find it increasingly difficult to claim that I have gone through hard times when I know I am blessed. I have wealth. Not just financially, but spiritually, in friendships and in family. There is much to be thankful for.  So when I talk of hardship I talk of finding one’s place in this world, something which each one of us must do.

At the beginning of 2010 I was filled with anticipation and excitement. I believed this would be the year I find out what God is planning, what’s coming around the corner. God, however, had different plans. I come out of 2010 with even more questions unanswered.

In 2009 I had auditioned for my first movie role. I had fluffed the first audition, but went on to post another online and received a call back. In 2010 I had to accept my first movie NO. At the time I was disappointed, in hindsight I am thankful. The audition process had given me experience I needed to have, and given me confidence to do it again. The role, on the other hand, was not something that would have been good for me for numerous reasons. After much struggle, I got a late call to assist the casting department for the same movie. Again, it was not what I had expected, but I moved mountains to be there and worked hard for no recognition. I can happily say it was a fantastic decision. I got to experience my first set, and to see the boring side, the reality, of making movies. I got to meet amazing people and stay in a beautiful place. I came out of the short time with more knowledge and an intensified passion.

This passion put a heavy struggle on my studies. Accounting at university level has never been even slightly interesting to me, but it has become part of my journey. For reasons God alone knows, I have been sent along this path, and I can only trust it will work out for the best. By God’s grace I completed my degree at the end of this year, and will go on to study honours in the next. There is no doubt in my mind that this is where God wants me to be, I just don’t understand why.

My love of music has had fuel added to its flames. Thanks to some special friends, some of them who I only met this year, I have grown in confidence. I joined the church worship team, and am slowly getting used to singing in public. I have acquired a new interest in the drums, where I sneakily grab sticks after a youth meeting and make some noise, and hope to learn more.

The Soccer World Cup being in our back yard was an experience of a life time. I never got to see a game in the stadium but I got to experience it with thousands of ordinary South Africans on our beautiful beachfront. It forced our government to clean up our beautiful city, and return the beachfront to its glory.

Srizzil has finally found its direction, as a personal portfolio of entertainment for others to enjoy, and is flourishing under its new direction. This year alone I have gained over 13 300 video views across my YouTube channels, a 370% increase over the year before.

I have made many amazing new friends, and lost some along the way. I’ve laughed my heart out, and cried like it could never be put back. I’ve seen God do crazy things, and I’ve spent time with more who refuse to see he exists.

Overall 2010 has been a year of lessons, hard ones, but lessons that I needed to learn. I can only hope 2011 teaches me so much more.

SingStar PS3 Pop Edition Review

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

SingStar Pop EditionKnowing that SingStar is more fun with friends, I packed up my PS3 and all it’s essentials, PS EYE, Mics, game disks, and lugged them over to a party. SingStar is slowly growing on those of my friends that don’t count themselves as singers. I think it’s because it lets you be that rock star you’ve only ever dreamed of.

With the kit set up, names typed in and photo’s taken the group sat down to play. As with all the PS3 versions of SingStar the interface is a breeze, so much so that you may just spend a few extra seconds in the menu because it’s so good looking.

With SingStar Pop a new update has been added to the game that is definatley worth a mention. After the last SingStar update added harmonies I was curious to see what other features Sony would be able to come up with. Introducing the voice control option, no more messing around with silly remotes, simply tell your PS3 what you want and it’ll play it for you. Looking for a Jordin Sparks song? Just say, “Show Artists,” followed by, “Jordin Sparks.” Select the song with your voice and off you go. Although it’s certainly not perfect, I love the new addition. Unfortunately though, when there’s a lot of shouting going on SingStar doesn’t understand you as well. I say unfortunately because when  a group of friends is playing SingStar there is a lot of shouting involved.

The new SingStar pop has some fantastic new songs that’ll have you jumping on your coffee table and performing for your adoring fans. “So What,” from Pink leads the pack with the opening game song, a fantastic SingStar tradition. The Killers are feeling ‘Human,’ and Kings of Leon adds another of its latest hits to the SingStar library.

The new songs take full advantage over the harmonies feature this time around, something which adds an interesting new challenge to the game. Singing No Air with Jordin and Chris will have you finding new ranges you never thought you had. But the best news about Pop is that as you browse through the songs you will know a lot of them. Although the oldies are there they are mostly popular songs, after a bit of a wobbly play list on the last SingStar Volume 3 it’s great to see the songs back to the usual high standard.

Below is the play list for SingStar Pop edition.

Alphabeat 10.000 Nights Of Thunder

SingStar PS3 Review

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Sing Star PS3With the solid foundation of PS2 titles under the SingStar belt, it was only a matter of time before the next generation of SingStar graced our gaming screens. As our SingStar week continues I thought we should start with the first PS3 title before launching into the exciting new ones.

I think it’s fair to say that by now most people know what SingStar is, or they can gather it’s a singing game for your PlayStation. It’s simple, plug in your mics, pop in your SingStar Disk and sing along to your favourite songs. As the music video plays in the background, and the words are highlighted at the bottom of your screen, your singing is scored in real time.

What the PS2 version of SingStar started, the PS3 has almost perfected. The user experience is seamless, and unmatched by upcoming imitations by Microsoft and Nintendo. The PS3’s SingStar takes singing to a stylish new HD level with stunning menus and the biggest addition, the SingStore. The SingStore allows you to expand your music library with individual songs or packs that you want. No more buying disks with songs you don’t like.

Don’t worry, for those of you stuck in the stone ages Sony will continue releasing new versions on disks with more tracks and more features. What I really love about the PS3 version is that as new disks are released with new features, you’ll be able to download an update so that the features are available for all your songs, not just the new disk.

Sing Star PS3The only downside to this game is arguably not really that important. Playing by yourself doesn’t have that much appeal. This is a social game, as it always has been, and without friends it can just become plain boring. However if you’re the perfectionist bettering your score could keep you going or even the constant search for PS3 trophies could supply you with hours of individual SingStar fun.

As usual your EyeToy works with SingStar to add an additional level of fun and mockery as you watch back the hysterical performances put on by friends and see them squirm as they hear and see themselves sing.

This is a hard game to fault because of its pure entertainment value. After all, isn’t that what we buy games for?
